"The drumbeat itself is a reflection of your heart. So your heart is your drumbeat, and your songs are the gifts of life." Drumming is a prayer that reminds us that we are One Body with all God's creation. Through drumming we can break through separations and build bridges toward relationships with all whom God has made. Bring drums and shakers if you have them.

MARRIED SAINTS

WORLD DAY OF PRAYER

We encourage you to join in an ecumenical gathering in your local community. This year's theme is Let everything that has breath, praise the Lord. The prayer service used throughout the world is prepared by the Prayer Committee of Cameroon, West Africa.
SCRIPTURE FOR LENT SERIES

If you are looking for a spiritual discipline for Lent, consider this series of Friday afternoons. We will be praying with the scripture for the upcoming Sunday Liturgy. This reflective method of praying can be used with any scripture. If you cannot attend all, come to the one/s that fit your schedule.

TAKE TIME FOR ART

QUESTING FOR THE LIVING GOD, Part one in the series

The age-old search for the living God is central in the human journey. How we think about God and envision God matters. We will look at our "childhood God" as well as more recent understandings of the sacred "right here" as well as "beyond."

(Attending March 11 is not a requirement for today.) How does science, religion and culture impact each other and us as we enter into Gracious Mystery, Ever Greater, Ever Nearer? Current leaders in science and religion will be examined and more.

CAREGIVER STRESS: RESPECT YOUR WELL BEING

Caregivers need to practice self-care for their own sake and the sake of the one for whom they care. Fatigue, frustration, and the sense of being overwhelmed can drain one's patience and love. We will talk about ways of reducing stress for the caregiver.

WATERCOLOR

We will create a light transparent flower painting on a bold dark backdrop. Bring your watercolors, stretched watercolor paper, other watercolor supplies, and close up photos of flowers. Supplies will be available to make up for what is lacking. Bring a lunch.

CELEBRATING ST. PATRICK'S DAY

Music, prayers, stories and learning to Iris fold cards using symbols from the Irish tradition, plus an Irish dinner, add to the festivities of this special day. In our celebration we will touch into the Celtic understanding of God in everyday living. Limit of 12.

POET AND PAINTER

Haiga is a type of artwork that incorporates a spare sketch-like image with a very short poem. We will learn how to compose reflective three lined poems called haiku and combine them with short hand images done in calligraphic fashion. All materials will be provided. Bring a lunch. Limit of 8.

JEWISH PESACH 2010 (Passover)

This year Pesach goes from March 29 to April 6. Set by the first full moon after the spring Equinox, this Jewish feast is about the stories of G-d's presence in our lives. It is about G-d's care, liberation from the place of perversion and darkness, and placing us under the beam of light and holiness, and our responsibility for educating and caring for our children. This feast has much to teach us about our own faith, relationship with G-d and one another. We will tell stories, use simple rituals and symbols that invite us to remember G-d's liberating presence in our own lives.

PASTEL: SCINTILLATING COLORS

Color keys our emotions and strong color conveys excitement and makes landscapes come to life. We will push color beyond what is seen and add creativity and feeling to any dull photographed landscape. Bring pastel supplies (non-oil) and photos. The board will be provided. Also, bring a bag lunch. Limit of 8.
Fee: $30.00.

Marywood is open to all people searching for God in their lives. It is our desire that all who want to attend our programs not allow lack of funds to keep them from coming. Marywood welcomes volunteer service in lieu of program donations. Those who have been blessed by God with greater abundance are encouraged to be generous when coming to Marywood.
