August EARTH CAFE: WHAT IF THERE WERE NO MOSQUITOES DRUMMING August 6 Wednesday 7:00-9:00 PM Facilitators: Gray Wolf and Roselyn Heil, FSPA Holy Family Church Drumming is an ancient prayer of "dancing" in step with the pulse of Mother Earth, reminding us that we are One Body with all God's creation. Through drumming we can break through separations and build bridges toward relationships with all that God has made. Bring drums and shakers if you have them. Fee: Donation. TAKE TIME FOR ART August 12 Tuesday 10:3AM-3:30 PM Marywood - Emmaus Building Instructor: Karen Kappell, FSPA If you attended a previous workshop and were unable to finish your art, bring it to Marywood to receive additional assistance. Come to work and finish those pieces of art that have been tucked away for a future time. Fee: Donation. ART CRITIQUE August 13 Wednesday 1:00-3:00 PM Marywood - Emmaus Building Karen Kappell, FSPA and Gayle Bradley Johnson This is a gathering of artists to support each other and to share current art work that we have done in order to get objective criticism on it. Come with two or three recently completed paintings and join us in a group critique. Fee: Donation. BASIC DRAWING August 18 Monday 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM Marywood - Emmaus Building Instructor: Karen Kappell, FSPA The art of drawing while it begins with the eye, ends with the heart. This day of drawing will introduce the drawer to materials, and present ways to approach drawing (making meaningful marks through gesture, contour, and negative drawing). Materials will be provided. Bring a bag lunch. Fee: $30.00 for one session; $50 for this plus the August 25 workshop. COMMUNICATING WITH THOSE WITH MEMORY LOSS August 18 Monday 9:30-11:30 AM Marywood Lodge Presenters: Julie St. Pierre and Julie Schmitz-Trachte of Alzheimer's Association Do you interact with people who have memory loss? Julie will offer helpful strategies and tips to increase effective communication with people we care about. Pastime Club (358-3404) available for your loved one so you can feel free to come. SOME WAYS TO SUSTAIN A PRAYER LIFE August 19 Tuesday 10:00 AM - 2:30 PM or 4:00 PM - 8:30 PM Marywood Emmaus Building Facilitator: Marla Lang, FSPA We all crave a relationship with God that doesn't "peter out," give out or end. Yet, what are some approaches to a regular and healthy prayer life that sustain us in today's complex world, in the nitty-gritty world of our everyday lives, deaths, joys, struggles, and celebrations? You are encouraged to bring along an object that assists you in your prayer, a favorite prayer book, no matter how tattered, and/or an art piece of yours. Please bring along a friend and a bag meal to share. Fee: Donation. EARTH CAFE August 22 Friday 3:00-5:00 PM Marywood Emmaus Building Facilitator: Roselyn Heil, FSPA What does it mean to be a member of the community of life? Earth café is an opportunity for dialogue about the larger questions of life in an informal setting. This is not a book club or a place to listen to experts, but a place for you to connect with others. Come, ponder and share together. We'll choose a topic for next time. Fee: Donation. EARTH ETHICS II (see also July 23) August 28 Thursday 4:00-6:00 PM Marywood Lakeside, weather permitting Facilitator: Roselyn Heil, FSPA When economics, legal loopholes and personal desires provide the basis of our decisions and actions, we create fear. Developing a philosophy of living, of behavioral principles can enable people of all walks of life to come together toward a renewal of humanity and a healthy relationship with Earth. Come, be a part of awakening toward ethical living. We will explore these points as we wrestle with ethical Earth living.
